| The US has announced the removal of its forces from Saudi soil, however, like Jordon, it was commonly thought/Known (?) that US aircraft were operating out of Norhtern Saudi Arabia on Missions in Iraq.
My theory is that the uS came ot a deal whereby they got the Saudi's to allow these operations in return for removing their troops from their soil, provided that it was kept hush hush.
This works well for all, the Americans now have another base in the region, and probably several in Iraq (H1/2/3 all possibilities). Whilst the reason for the troops is also gone,a nd the Saudis can claim they got rid of US troops, and by aiding the Iraq campaign they speed the removal of US troops from the region more quickly, and help subdue any american anger at their refusal to allow the Coalition to us Saudi bases.
