German U-Boat U-33 fired the IDAS missile the first time and successfully downed the target drone at a height of 1500 meters.  IDAS is equipped with a searchhead camera that enables the soldiers to lead it into the target from the U-boat, making the missile hard to disrupt and very accurate.  All Boats will have recieved IDAS around 2014.

Don't get me wrong., as this is always a useful system to have and beats hands down the old ways of doing business.
But the technical throw away line above is a bit cute. Cueing the Mk1 eyeball, an onboard optical camera and a high speed incoming into a "solution" for launch in a useful time frame just doesn't work out.

I'm guessing the journo has dumbed it down considerably.....

I guess my translation was flawed, it said that the soldier onboard can lead it to the target, not that they could see it like a Milan or something ...
