Delta Force and SAS are the 2 most elite combat units in the world.  There is NO close 2nd.  Seals are not even consided #2 in the US Military.  Ghost Recon are more elite then Seals.  To even be considerd for Delta, you alomost have to be prior Special Forces.  ie, Ranger, Green beret, seals, etc...  Not only does Delta and SAS train for FAR longer then Seals do, but a much smaller percent of the Men actually complete the training and are taken on then Seals.  Seals have about a 40% pass rate, where Delta has about a 5%.  And that is assuming you were actually good enough to be chosen for the selection process.  Their are less the 200 Delta Operators in the US Military.  It is the smallest, most elite and most highly trained unit in the US Military.  They are older, more mature, wiser, and have FAR more combat expiernce then Seals.  Seals are usally much younger, and far less expierenced.  The number 1 unit the CIA recruits out of is Delta Force.  The vast majority of CIA feild operators are prior Specail Forces, mainly Delta.
Yeah thanks for that, I take it you have experience of all those units, seeing as you have given such a difinitive and expert opion.....oh and also experience of all those other 3rd divison units too.

BTW I hope that post of yours was a piss take, because, Ghost recon don't actually exist

and it's SEAL,.s a seal is a xmallish waterborne mammal a SEAL is a very tough, although unfortunalty also in the Navy guy.

my father was quoted as being a legend in the SAS. Now deceased. As a kid I met special forces from around the world. Isrealis, Brazilians, etc. Its a big family in a sense. A competative family. according to the old man, no one unit has the right to claim itslef as being the best. I am in the US military now, deployed to Iraq on numerous occasions. This is an attempt at being neutral. I have met numerous US special forces operatives on my travels. a number of them trained with the SBS, SAS, Royal Marines, and by no means least the Paras. The honest ones will admit the Brits are just better trained, fitter. However, The SAS is minute in respect to the US special forces orgs. Hence better training, more attention to detail. The British military is smaller, has to be more selective. If the SEALS or other US special forces do not meet their Quotas, regarding recruits meeting standards, standards are dropped. The Brits will not do that. Who do you think trained the SEALS, Green Berets, Rangers, Delta  ?  The British Units they are mirrored after.

You guys do realize that the SEALs is acronym for SEa Air and Land right? I mean you guys trying to glorify SAS is Pointless. The SEALs aren't just trained in Maritime warfare but they are trained Paratroopers, and Footsoldiers, plus the Navy SEALs Martial Art Tae Jitsu is among the greatest in the world. What do the SAS do? All they do is jump out of airplanes and fight on land. As a multitude of training and combat experience the SEALs would kick a SAS Commando's  ass hands down.

I believe the SAS have as their art, "Pointalism"....they are also quite good at abstract mosaics...YOu are serious aren't you?  This thead has been a joke for ages....to sum up, it's pointless to debate these things as the SAS aren't competitors, but peers, and the only way to know who is "better" is to be intimately involved in the SpecWar Community(ies) and therefore incapable of commenting on what you know.

Hence: IF you know, you CAN'T say, but if you can say it follows you can't know....not matter how many SEAL books or SAS comics you read, or whether or no you use Gintsu knives or don't or drink MaiTai's or just prefer beer.

Do you actually know anything about the SAS and its history or did you simply read their name as Special Air Service and come the above conclusion?
Not that it actually matters, because like JFKY said, if you actually know anything like that then you're going to be in big trouble with your CO.

You do realize that the Star Wars universe is only a fantasy creation right?
If you are referring to "taijutsu", that's the generic Japanese term for unarmed combat, not any specific art.

JFKY:
Knock it off!  I've relied on this thread every summer for the past few years for my entertainment, don't discourage the kids.
