Yeah, Ike Jackson is down at Benning now, retired but doing well and doing some contract work. He's a Facebook friend - he and I played for the Geronimo together, the football team.  And someone else mentioned Dave Neeley - good guy.  He is out in Taluride, CO last time I spoke with him. He had to do some local time when he ETS'd for setting off arty simulators in downtown Palluride or Durango or somewhere during leave.  Helluva a snow skier though and a good guy.

Sittre    Rigger   5/31/2012 8:29:03 PM
Was With CSc 1/509 in Bosco from 76-79. Rotated back stateside right after CSC was reassigned back up to Vicenza. Rotated back to 1/509 in 80-85. Riggers were living in D Bat Baracks. Anyone remember going to Vilafranka Airfield to Stage when we went on NATO Alert? I was the Platoon SGT for the Rigger Platoon from 83-85. Anyone remember Mt Baraco? I remember running the back way and had to cross the swinging bridge! When I returned to Italy when Riggers were assigned to HHC. Remember when the 09 was banned from Wildchicken because of what a couple of Officers did at the O-Club. I bet you guys that were there from 80-85 remember going out to the Rigger shed to shake out chutes. I was one of the Instructors that ran the Jumpmasrer Course. 1/509th was my best duty station I had in my 22 year Coreer. Airborne!!!! I will be sure always. Rigger!!,!,!

Hey Bernie! I just came across this site and see an older post from you. Joe Weldon here. In Bravo from 74-78. I remember you well. Just recently running through some photos I had and came across one of you. I enjoyed those 4 years. best group of guys I had the pleasure of serving with and working with in my work life anywhere. I looked up several folks when I came home. Remember Johnny Svetlick. Never got the chance to retire. Went home on recruiting duty in Cincy and lost it to a drunk driver. Hope all is good. '09 was the best damn unit of guys ever!

Hi doc Rob, Joe Weldon here. Bravo Co 74-78. I remember the jump and the overnight March. I have pictures from that day.
A hard one to remember. With regards to the yearbook, if you check into the 509 Facebook page, Greg Velasco posted the yearbook on the page and you should be able to pull up the picture. If not let me know and I can get it to you from my yearbook. I am on facebook as well. weldonj615@yahoo.com

ABN Ortiz    Overnight March   7/15/2012 1:00:54 AM
I was in B Co from Feb or Mar of 77 to Sep of 79.  I was wondering if it was that march where they had some trucks going up and down picking up people that had dropped out? And that we marched till dawn took a break only to hear the C130's start their engines as the fog lifted so those of us that made the march could jump that morning? My feet were bleeding when I changed my socks and had scares for years after and could still bearly see them now. Alberto Ortiz B Co.
