put SOCOM on an MSR in Afghanistan day in and day out.  put them in the same situations as you find the conventional units and they'd get hit just as hard.

Minus the profanity ^^ is a good point - training doesn't prevent IED blasts embedded in the roadside nor does it make troops who are on foot patrol (often to reassure villagers etc) less of a target.

 

 

Rangers are recon, forces sent to find and locate enemy forces. It is still the grunt on the ground who must dig them out.
