General George Patton maintained good relations with Muslims in North Africa, never condoned torture of any kind, and was in the classic sense an honourable warrior. This populist "seance", invoking hatred of Muslims to popularize the war on terror, not only misses the mark but is unnecessary hateful and indicative of the same sort of "armchair mentality" the writer wishes to mock.

Our enemy is not Islam, but terrorists. This is emphasized further by the fact that many of our terrorist opponents are not motiveted by Islam, not even nominally, but by Left fascist criminalism - the same sort of mentality that motivated the Leftist Nazis as well as the Leftist Bolsheviks and Marxists. Some supposed "Muslim" terrorist factions, such as the Ba'ath, the MeK, the PKK, the PLO, the PFLP, and many others are simply Marxist fronts posing as nationalist, nominally Islamic fronts.

The vast majority of Muslims hate these terrorists, do not support their aims, and are natural allies for the US and the West. This has been borne out time and time agian in Iraq and Afghanistan, where Coalition forces have depended on the goodwill and martial prowess of indigenous Muslims to fight off these murderous terrorist factions. Indeed, in Iraq in particular, the war the terrorist groups are waging is not mainly against the Coalition forces, but against the Muslim civilian population of Iraq itself - a mode of behavior Saddam's men had engaged in with unchecked brutality long before any forces from the West were in-country, and that in its heyday involved mass killings and poison gas.

I very much resent the use of Patton's memory to justify advocating war against Islam, just as much as I am outraged by how easily the Left has escaped responsibility for the terrorist war they have incessantly advocated for and deliberately instigated, not only in the Middle East but across the globe. From narco-terrorists in Columbia, to Maoist insurgents in Nepal, to quasi-Islamic terrorist factions in Kurdistan, to quasi-Catholic Marxists in Ireland, and so on, the Left has been in the forefront, and is indeed the architect and chief profiteer of modern terrorism, and is our chief enemy in this struggle.

Were Patton alive today he would make the same claim today, just as he did in 1945. And let's not hear nationalist nonsense against the Russian people either. His apprehensions and warnings were about holders of an ideology who would stop at nothing to pursue their evil ends. The Russian people have been as much a victim of these terrorist thieves and mass murderers as any other. The misery in the old Soviet Union ended only when the power of these people was finally broken; expect no less in the civilized world's war against terror worldwide.

In our struggle to destroy the Left, we are all brothers. We can afford to be nothing less.
