That sort of thing tends to backfire. Only a few politicians have the knack for
doing it without looking like ridiculous posers.

If I recall correctly, he was not posing behind the gun. He was sitting in the cabin talking to the gunner (who just be seen on the right of the picture behind the door. The gunner let go of the gun for whatever reason, and it swung around until the back was facing brown. Some photographer was just lucky enough to get the shot.
