Just read the latest editorial on Navy-Matters and am now feeling completely depressed. Somebody please tell me that the website is just a front created by the RN PR department to drum up some support.

I read that too.

Having a 65,000 ton Carrier with just nine F35s and a Merlin/Searchwater AEW system does sound rather depressing and pointless.

If this is true would it be a good idea to convert the trenc3 typhoons to operate from carriers and just cancel the F35 altogether, The airforce doesn`t need all of them.

much as I like having a top 4 navy.... considering the cost of CF and T45...  do we actually need them?
 
do we plan any major operations outside of American help? ideally we should have the capability in case the Americans are not in a good mood but would the limited amount of money available be better spent elsewhere?

I don't know how this would play politically, but would it hurt if one of Americas East coast based CVNs got a temporary home porting in Europe (preferably somewhere in England) ? If you go CATOBAR, it could help with the training, and otherwise it would make good group training. We could even invite those pesky French kids to come over and play some.
 
Makes tons more sense then renting the Kittyhawk.

INDOMITABLE and ILLUSTRIOUS are much better. Like ENTERPRISE, those British ships gave heroic service  Just design the QEs correctly please?

Is Royal Sovereign taken?  I trust the Victory is still in commission as is our Constitution, otherwise that would be a natural. 

I would definitely be going back to capital ships of the Age of Sail.  Nothing, I repeat NOTHING good has happened to England or the RN since you went over to stinkpots!  (Okay, Nigella Lawson; Elizabeth Hurley; but still...)  Jutland?  Taranto?  Huzzah, to be sure. 


As above...just don't screw them up.  Again I think it would do you good to train-up, do trials, etc., on Kitty Hawk or JFK.  But that seems to give offense.
