I suppose some would say WW3 was the Cold War, and that the present unpleasantness is WW4. In either event I expect things to come to a head within the next 35 years and will consequently be purchasing some real estate in, maybe, the Falklands as a precaution.

To set things more clearly, like most I forsee conflict between American and Chinese economic interests and competition by the same for dwindling resources to be the cause of the next big war.

WWII started when the United States and Japan went to war and Germany declared was on the US. Before that it was regarded as a European war. A war between the US - and a few allies including Great Britain and possibly Japan - and China would seem a long way off from a world war.

I see it in the next 20 years. The terrorist war may have low points but eventually some terrorist sets off a small nuke or does a bilogical warfare attack, kills a lot of people. The real damage comes when then the stockmarket takes a dive and countries dump U.S. money in mass. Other countries uning U.S. currency fall suit. With america looking weak bound to be a few countries that want to take adavantage of it. Iran might invade Iraq. Or north korea invade south korea. Plenty of other possibilities other then that. Then America has to have a draft, massive protest against that. Then when America starts to pull out of it, I expect a dispute to break out with China. It was when the great depression was ending that things went into world war two. The big powers have to come to a status quo, unfortunately that has a habit of not being peaceful.

Plus to add, once a certain amount of coutries are fighting it out, others join in for a peice of the spoils, still others get invade because its a chance to get away with it. Many different long simmering disputes turn to warfare and become part of the larger war, plenty of those. Its like how Japan and china had been fighting it out long before world war two, yet there war merged with the larger war and expande to involve most of the pacific.

A summary I went through this year. Gives war between China and US, in the next 5 years, at over 50%. BOb

China vs US = economic war between 'nation states' Islam vs US = economic war of attrition, sprinkled with terrorism and demographics China watches US weaken against islam, and then picks up the pace, as opportunities present themselves, toward a "gretaer chinese co-prosperity sphere".
