Last week, Guy Teissier, chairman of the defense and security committee in the French National Assembly, called for Paris to rapidly dispatch a third EC725, three of its new Tiger attack helicopters and some reconnaissance UAVs, and redeploy France?s special forces, which were pulled out in early 2007.

Although there were reports that France would dispatch three helicopters earmarked for Chad to Afghanistan instead, defense ministry officials said no decision had been taken yet on aircraft redeployment. They also noted that the Tiger cannot be fielded until it has been fully qualified, and declined to say how long this would take.
