Subject: Mirage 2000-9 vs F-22
Phaid    3/6/2010 6:59:51 AM
So, months after the fact, new "leaks" keep coming out of that ATLC exercise in the UAE. The latest one is that a UAEAF Mirage 2000-9, supposedly flown by a French pilot, got an F-22 into its gunsights. Of course there is no information about what type of scenario, if any, was taking place when this occurred. It's also "interesting" that all these "leaks" from the French keep coming out. It's almost like they had some kind of marketing effort and were trying to make an impression on someone.

It's interesting because we heard about american and australian pilots who could not even lock on em, if even the raptors could be seen with the naked eye trough the hud. So the Mirage has do be better then what hey were flying?????

Apparently, in September 2009; some Rafales and Typhoons had some war games in Solenzara,Corsica and the Royal airforces` Typhoons got creamed 8 to 1. So Dubai was the second time that the Royal airforces` Typhoons got creamed; as stated by Lcl Grandclaudon of the French airforce.

who also stated the Rafales were simulating AA10 equiped (insert Sov Block Aircraft), that there were other more even engagements, and that this result wasnt representative of the full exercise but gave them some bragging rights. He also stated that the french group had better situational awareness, not sure if that was AWACS or if the tiffys were set up to fail.

In other words as stated by many all along it was DACT it was scripted it proves nothing *- and yes if it was the other way around id say the same thing.

* Proves nothing regarding which is the best  Tiffy/Amraam or Rafale Mica (esp as the Raf/Mica combo was a AA10/sov Combo)
The only thing it does prove is that whatever the Typhoons were doing at the time is not what you want to be doing if the real deal shows up - It may even demonstarte flawed tactics or very inexperienced pilots - but platform superiority no.

The thing with chery picking French statements and posting them on an english language site is - You never no what limey Bast*rd may have a French girlfriend who is willing to translate a little bit more.

And fighter pilots never lie, ever.

"So, Frenchie, I heard you got smoked by that F-22!"

"Au contraire! I had him in the gunsight, and pulled the trigger.  It's not my fault that the HUD picked that time to go out, non?  Ah, if only I had the gun camera film to show you!"

"I think you're lying, Frenchie."

"I think your mother smelled of elderberries, Americaine!"

I once heard a fighter pilot boast that the North Vietnamese actually never shot down any American aircraft A2A, that it was all Russian advisors.  Of course, the guy was pretty blasted at the time.

So what? The F22 has been gun killed a few times in exercise. Trouble is, everyone who's done the deed has been shot down several times over to get to that point.

It's no big deal - there's a famous shot of an F15 in the sights of a EE Lightning back when the F15 had just been launched. Thirty years later, the F15 is running at 90+ air to air kills with no combat losses. I think the F22 will do better.

What's funny is he came into this thread, which is about the UAEAF Mirage 2000-9 getting an F-22 in its HUD in BFM, and proceeds not once but twice to trot it out as if it were new info.  I guess all that wine and cheese plays havoc on the short term memory.
