Since when rafale is a cranked delta???? it only have small lerxs! And you are contradicting yourself : the whole report you gave about supposed heat issues is aimed to show that M88 do not work with usual TBO schemes, but near real time maintenance....And please chec your data about M88-4E TBO data...

@ halloweene : No probs , I know what you mean .

@Shooter : you wrote :
""This is BS! The Delta wing has a very small Aspect Ratio and therefore a very high Parasitic Drag! This is exacerbated by the Canards at low angles of attack, ( Cruise and Top Speed!) and helped at high AoAs! ( ACM!) Note that just because the canards help at high AoAs, do not think they make the Delta's lower AR equal to the higher AR Plane! ""

Wrong . It seems that Dassault engineers are better than you Shooter but it shouldn 't come as a surprise to anybody .
Also :
""No one wants to take a flier on a plane with a weak engine that might have to be replaced TEN to TWENTY times before the first OVERHAUL on an American Engine! ""

lol ... Inventing numbers again , Sir ? Pathetic ... Prove you case Shooter . Basically , put up or shut up .

Cheers .

45-Shooter    A classic case of the right categories, but wrong parameters!   12/19/2011 9:25:17 PM

A classic case of the right categories, but wrong parameters!

I note that the EF-Typhoon and Rafale camps both use the .9 to 1.2 acceleration numbers, while American sales teams use Mach .8 to 1.2 as the critical number! If the number used was the American standard, then all the planes with fixed inlets, Rafale, F-16 and EF, that did so well at the Euro numbers would fall about 50% behind the F-15 and F/A-18E/F! The first tenth of a Mach number between 0.8 and 0.9 is the crunch when variable inlets can make a huge difference in the time it takes the installed engine to spool up!

This is one of the things that I mean when I talk of selective data publication, or Cherry Picking! Why not use the M0.8 to top speed times? The single most telling of those numbers is that the F-15C can go from M-0.8 to M-2.5 with eight missiles and the CL tank in less time than any of the Euro canards can go from .9 to mach 1.8 Rafale or M2.0 in the Typhoon CLEAN!!! You see the acceleration curve looks like a snake. I also like the way that those charts use weights where all things are not equal! If the Rafale or to a lesser extent, the Typhoon were loaded to the same RTB range as the F-15, then the numbers would be severely reversed! This is the half fuel load when the half fuel numbers represent such vastly different things!

Now , are you trying to tell us that a Nimitz can launch 340 sorties per day ??! And that for a week ??!

No! I am claiming that any of the American Super Cariers can launch 600-640 sourties per day!

Did i miss something or (i) you jumped again from a embarassing topic to another? Who talked about F15? And even so, where are the data you "see" (in a ball of cristal?)
