Subject: what the U.S. is doing to fight Al-Qaeda in Somalia
dont_tread    5/14/2006 1:37:22 PM
according to strategy page, there are some quiet U.S. special operations going on in somalia to counter the growing influence of Al-Qaeda and the islamic courts. while the editors of stratpage have not really given any details, they have clearly implied that we are backing the secular warlords with money and more. I keep reading reports of battles in and around mogadishu where artillery, mortars, and machinegun fire are utilized. i want to know if we have some special forces on the ground, and if we do, can anyone give some info on how we're kicking ass.

"American special forces have been operating in Somalis for the last few years, but any official details of these operations are secret, and the only evidence anyone has is numerous reports of tough looking, but disciplined, armed foreigners moving around inside Somalia." c'mon give us some more info!

offical channels state they are in kenya and are training certain friendly warlords and giving them some funding. dont know if any are actually in country -kinda wander if Fahra Adid is one of the "friendly ones"-the former marine who left to US to take over for his dad when he was killed?
