Why were we in Somalia, "Somali Girl"? Good question -- here is the answer: 1) We started out as part of an effort to help feed your starving population, since you were too busy fighting amongst yourselves to even feed your children! 2) So, to show your appreciation, your main warlord, Adid, decided he would steal the food so he would have more absolute control, using starvation as a weapon against *your* people. 3) We thought that was a bad idea, and tried to stop him. 4) Many of your warlord's thugs decided to try to save him, and tried to kill our soldiers while hiding behind women and children. 5) Your thugs lost -- in hiding behind women and children like cowards, they got a number of their own civilians killed. every day on tv we hear :"for just a doller a day you can save a childs life". we tried to do more than that, by fixing the heart of the problem. instead those ungreatful somalian militant bastards operned fire on our forces, and now you are saying that we are the bastards for returining fire? if somalia has cuch an atitude to the wesr, it should stop whining to us about it's problems.

Just out of curiosity, what are the natural resources of Somalia? If my memory serves me correctly, the USSR supported Siad Barre. Somalia finds oil in Ethiopia (Ogaden Desert) and invades. USSR support fades and the support Ethiopia under the new leader, Mengistu Haile Mariam. As was alluded to in a previous post, Somalia was dumped by the USSR in favor of Ethiopia because of the issue of natural resources.

This is what happens when Africans are corrupted by Islamic thoughts, they literally submit to the warlords and embrace their starvation with open arms blaming the Americans for their pathetic animal like situation, actually animals can find there own food most of the time. Right there are no natural resources in Somalia so you can't use the same excuse as you did for why the Americans are currently in Iraq. Biting the hand that tries to feed you will only bring upon you a more miserable existance if thats even possible!

America is a land which is empty cuz under the dirt is only dirt and skeletons of the true ppl who owned the platuea. I hope u guys die the same as u killed the native indians. Bul Why, thank you very much for showing some concern for my heritage. Coincidentally, My people are doing a good enough job of speaking up for themseleves in regards to their affairs. That at one time, yes it was sad it has happened as it did. It's all in the past, & a modern day bleeding heart individual can point to all the fault's of a nation's majority inhabitants, still won't change the fact, of the minority inhabitants feelings of being pandered too over issues that were decided on, over 120 years ago. Especially, when my ancestors fought against not only europeans descendants, but also africans descendants as well. We are not dead, yet! The numbers are some where between a million or two million, but if i would have to bet, i would pick closer to 3 million! I'm quite proud too have alot of native american in me. Also, i'm just as proud to be an american too! I have no bitterness dwelling within me, that would keep my soul chained in torment. To have lived a life in vain, was not a life worth living in the first place! IOW - Many of us are over it, and are living as proud members in this society. Life is just too short! In regards, to somalia's natural resources. The only thing within it's ground that i would consider a valuable resource, would be the american blood that was spilled there trying to arrest a u.n. designated war criminal! Oh, and if we want to play bleeding hearts, then i must say, the innumerable thousands of children and innocents that had died most especially since 1994 & the u.n. pull out! Somolians don't suffer because of america, but by their own hands, they are committing suicide!

The real sad thing is that after nearly 1000 people getting themselves to kill 18 Americans, some Somalians celebrated that as victory. Frankly, that kind of victory is nothing to brag about. Moreover, victories usually bring with them success, and this so called victory brought nothing of the sort and in fact quite its opposite. On that day America might have 'lost', but it did not lose nearly so thoroughly as the Somalian people did. It was not our hope for ourselves that was shattered. In the long history of pyric victories never has one been so meaningless and bitter to the so called victors. The US came to feed some starving Somalians. We had no strategic or economic interest in the region, and for the most part, still don't. We left, not because 18 soldiers died, but because ultimately the Somalians proved they weren't worth our time. Had we really cared, we would not have been so easily moved. Had we not already been leaving, we would have not been so easily moved. Had the US President at the time been someone else, we would have not been so easily moved. And the Somalian people would have more to celebrate than thier illusionary victory. The Somalian 'triumph' takes its place along side the triumph of the North Koreans and Vietnamese as examples of all the good, liberty, and prosperity that comes to the people when thier rulers defeat the 'evil' America. Let them that want to laugh at our 'failure' in Somalia do so. The truth is though that Americans for the most part think that the laughter proves them fools, and the better part of us look on those that do with pity and scorn - when we think about such things at all. As for those that want to draw conclusions about the US will to fight based on the Somalian episode, I think they are already long since discredited.

STOP HATE ON ISLAM Fair enough, but, only when some radical muslims stop preaching hate towards America. You can have pride in your country, or even your religon, i could care less what you think. You can't have it both ways though. However, i do know this , i don't hate somalians, nor the religon they practice. I do have a life that's not based on bitter thoughts and paranoid reactions from the media at large... *ahem*... DO AMERICAN PPL WORSHIP THERE T.V No, not really.
