Subject: German Peacekeepers Killed

Errk!

3 German peacekeepers have been killed and a number more wounded in a suicide bomb attack in Kabul. :( Not good.

This is worrying on a number of fronts. First, it's just plain sad. Second, because the German government (stupidly in my opinion) threatened to pull out their men if violence in Afghanistan escalated "as a result of the Iraq War" (hmmm) anf third of all because Kabul is meant to be just about the only place in the country which is meant to be "secure". Here's hoping it's a one off.

Everyone in the German Government has said that nobody will pull out, but that Germany will send more armored vehicles to Afghanistan, at the Moment they have mostly Fuchs, Dingo, and Wiesel as armored vehicles, the rest is very vulnerable for Attacks. I dont think that Germany will pull out before the mission is over (when is it over !?), in fact they are just thinking about sending some more troops to secure the countryside around Kabul and get a bigger area protected. Surely its sad, they showed the bodies arrive in Germany (and it were 4 soldiers, 3 was the first message ) Its something that Germans slowly get used too, as the number of the killed people go up ...

With all do respect to those killed, One would think with all the Anti Americanism in the German Gov't the terrorists would buy the soldiers lunch instead of killing them. I guess the plan didn't work out so well. Whos next France?

Sad to see this happen. I am glad that the Germans are there, helping out, and I hope they do not leave, but strengthen their presence.
