Subject: Kosovo and Taiwan - Taiwan's new excuse?
tianjinrob    2/20/2008 5:17:53 PM
Anyone else here believe that Taiwan has been studying the International reaction to the Kosovo move, with possible intention of using it as an excuse to declare their own independance? Just a thought... I know the Taiwan issue has been beaten to death over the coals, but I found it interesting that Taiwan so quickly recognized Kosovo. It put China in a very bad place as they are forced to either give Kosovo to Taiwan, allowing Taiwan to reap the untold diplomatic benefits of supporting the new country, or they have to recognize Kosovo themselves to take the stage from Taiwan, therefore going against their own party line against states declaring independance, thus possibly allowing Taiwan to use the contradiction as an excuse to declare. What do you think? TJrob

I think it makes the situation more dangerous. Commies aren't Serbs. Serbs gave up Kosovo after 1999, and the only thing they still have is rhetoric. It only tells them that they should prepare for war more seriously, if they are not serious enough.

Well Taiwan is more independent than Kosovo ever was. So their independence claim *should* have much more credibility.

Taiwan as we and they know it will pretty much die anyways after Beijing gets ahold of it.  Loads more women, water and food to plunder for commie jabbas.
