Subject: Report: U.S. Soldiers Did 'Dirty Work' for Chinese Interrogators
Softwar    5/21/2008 10:51:55 AM
link

U.S. military personnel at Guantanamo Bay allegedly softened up detainees at the request of Chinese intelligence officials who had come to the island facility to interrogate the men -- or they allowed the Chinese to dole out the treatment themselves, according to claims in a new government report.

Buried in a Department of Justice report released Tuesday are new allegations about a 2002 arrangement between the United States and China, which allowed Chinese intelligence to visit Guantanamo and interrogate Chinese Uighurs held there.

According to the report by Justice Department Inspector General Glenn Fine, an FBI agent reported a detainee belonging to China's ethnic Uighur minority and a Uighur translator told him Uighur detainees were kept awake for long periods, deprived of food and forced to endure cold for hours on end, just prior to questioning by Chinese interrogators.

Susan Manning, a lawyer who represents several Uighurs still held at Guantanamo, said Tuesday the allegations are all too familiar.

U.S. personnel "are engaging in abusive tactics on behalf of the Chinese," she said Tuesday. When Uighur detainees refused to talk to Chinese interrogators in 2002, U.S. military personnel put them in solitary confinement as punishment, she said.

Worst thing is that the Uyghurs have nothing against the US.  Well, they didn't until now.  I guess our elected officials know who their masters are....

As does our military.

I do know that Osama worked with some of the Ughrs but the level of the relationship has always been questionable - considering that the Taliban relied upon China for a good deal of its armament.  It always appeared that the Taliban and Osama kept the Ughrs at arms length because they had such a good working relationship with Beijing and the PLA warlords.

Still, this is the kind of report that makes me sick.  Our co-operation with an intelligence agencies like the MSS or MID should have been in type written form - not hands on.  These are the guys who will make sure your body parts are re-sold at a profit on the open market.

Yes, I'm sure they were in Gitmo because they were snatched while on the way to the market to sell their goats....

There were Kurds who were working with Abu Musab Al-Zarqaqwi in his "Ansar Al-Sunna" group. Ansar Al-Sunna later became known as Al-Queda in Iraq. This did not change the Us governments relationship with Kurdish peoples. We have a very good relationship with them and Kurdistan will be a US ally. Same can be true with East Turkistan and its self determination.

Same is true with this situation, Uyghurs working with AQ in Afghanistan (We did not go into Xinjiang to get them, they were working with AQ/Taliban) will be treated like any other combatants we picked up.

I hope we are not doing this for the Chinese for nothing, something pretty good must be given in exchange, if not then I will be disappointed.

Puh-LEEZZE.  What is with you people?  We let the Chinese question some Islamist terrorists?  If there's anything wrong with this picture, it's more likely to be that these wastes of oxygen arrived at Gitmo still breathing than that we let the Chinese commies also try to learn something from them.

You are missing the point Jim, the Uyghurs (like the Tibetans) have their homeland outside of Afganistan or Pakistan.  We are talking about different tribes who do not willingly share territory with each other.  The Uyghurs are in Afganistan and Pakistan to train to fight the PLA.  If anything we ought to be encouraging and arming them, not capturing them so that the PLA can interrogate them.

But Bush has already sold this country down the river, so what the hell?   Hey Jim, get your uniform let out a bit so you can bow deeply to PLA generals.

I hate to be this first to point this out but you sir are an ignorant boob.  The functional equal to a slack jawed idiot who thinks that any leadership - especially the PLA warlords - would dare risk their swiss bank accounts, hot chicks, hot foreign cars and cushy jobs.

Don't read me wrong here ...  I don't trust the CCP or the PLA any farther than I could throw the entire 2nd Artillery but your comment is just plain dumb.  First, it has zero to do with the current thread.  Secondly, the entire premise of your comment is so idiotic as to be laughable.  Finally, your comment is a clear demonstration of your complete lack of military and political operations.

My suggestion - take your medication and do what your mom told you to do - stay off the Internet.

They were still fighting US forces in Afghanistan.

The thing about commie (like a lot of his fellow Chinese) is that the further they are geographically from China, and the consequences of Chinese government actions, the more patriotic they get (and the more their loony bin instincts exhibit themselves). In his case, absence does make the heart grow fonder (and nuttier).

You are lucky that it is the US with the workingf arsenal and not the Russians, cretin.

The statements made by some of our bandit lovers is just astounding.,

You do know that we are helping the Beijing Bandits in Sichuam province, cretin?

You know where the PRCs keep so much of their nuclear weapons program?

Real smart that. Not only did those cretins build second rate buildings that killed thousands of innocent Chinese children from a major quake, but  they put their nuclear  weapons labs in a known dangerous quake zone?

I know nuking yourself is not beyond PRC stupidity, but I'd expect the cretins involved to at least make the  choice to not let a natural phenomena cause an accidental radiation release or damage nuclear research installations- MUCH LESS THEIR STRATEGIC NUCLEAR SITES.

Idiots. That stupidity explains why the PRCs make such energetic efforts to get troops in and conduct "rescue" efforts.

Not concern for the Chinese "citizens" [slaves] at all is involved. The PRC bandit PLA  have to dig out some of the rubble around their "peaceful"  nuclear sites that took some major damage to see how bad some of the PRC bandits' nuclear programs were damaged and how much of a a setback they've  suffered .

Here's to the "geniuses" who chose to build their weapon labs in an earthquake belt. May they get what their stupidity deserves.

I am gonna guess that the Chinese have their weapons labs in the region because that region is where Generalissimo Chiang (Cash My Check) held out for the better part of a decade against the Imperial Japanese Army. The very thing that makes it susceptible to earthquakes (mountains and rugged terrain in general), also makes it difficult to assault. During the Three Kingdoms era (of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms fame), the Kingdom of Shu - the smallest by far of the eponymous Three Kingdoms - held out for over fifty years against all comers in what is now Sichuan province.
