Subject: Commies do not support Russians on South Ossetia and Abkhazia
YelliChink    8/27/2008 1:16:42 PM
Wow, what do you know. But this is predictable. Commies have Taiwan issue, Tibet issue and Xinjian issue. If they support Russia this time, then they would face serious problem when the US seeks revenge of China's Russia-lining policy from Taiwan. I can imagine that commies are still pissed off by Russians for "making incidents" during the Olympics. However, they do not compete Russians in global strategy, so they just revealed "concern" after Hu met Medvedev. That's certainly a blow in the face to Medvedev.

As you say, it is hardly surprising.

Imagine the fun and games if Russia recognised Formosas independence.  The Chinese would scream a Hell of a lot louder than the West are now!

Actually it seems a little surprising since China typically opposes any independence movements due to its own issues with occupied territories.  China may be pissed that the Russians used Olympic leverage when the final border treaty was signed concerning those two little islands that a small war was fought over in the 60s.

Tibet and Taiwan and two huge reasons why the Russians will not get Chinese support.

If you go with the Russian argument, or rather their Kosovo response: a breakaway province is a breakaway province and deserves its independence regardless of its location.  Under that maxim then Taiwan and Tibet should get their independence (in the case of Taiwan, recognized independence).

The PRC may also be using this as leverage for better or more high-tech weapons deals.  Several Russian weapon deals have been stalled and the diplomatic carrot of cover from Beijing may be just the ticket to get Moscow to lighten up.

HERC - why do you continue to post - you were kicked off SP for being a troll and issuing racial slurs?  Just because you come back under a new name - does not mean you changed your spots or attitude for that matter.

You can't read and certainly have no sense - common or otherwise.  China went very neutral on this issue for its own reasons.  They clearly did not leap to Moscow's side and say "yesssir mister Putin... we support you 110%".

Reading your posting - one gets the impression that China joined up like a lapdog - hardly.  They are playing it cool for their own reasons.

Then again - you are such an expert at all things (claimed to be a radar engineer, a software engineer, a materials specialist, an econmoics wizz) that we started to call you "MOP PUSHER".  However, CNN is a good analogy for your postings... Crap Not News.
