Subject: Patriots in Qatar in Desert Storm

Historical question: Does anyone have the numbers on how many Patriot Batterys were set up in Qarat during GW1/Desert Storm? I have the unit numbers of those deployed into Kuwait etc..., NATO units etc... but I'm unable to find what Pac Units numbers be they US or NATO were deployed into Qatar.

I can confirm that there were NO Patriots deployed to Qatar during the Gulf War. 'Wisdom' at the time said that Qatar was beyond the range of Iraq's missiles, but as I watched the last SCUD fired during the war impact a few miles from my position at the Doha Air Base, I believe that they may have been off a bit. Mike,

I was there as well.  I was part of the SP's with the 401st?  I was out of Bitburg, Germany; 36 SPS.

I was sitting in one of the MK-19 Bunker on the Flight line when our radio went of and it was Traffic Control announcing "SCUD on Radar!!".... I recall looking out and seeing it falling thru the clouds and impacting......

Oh the little variables of war... if that would have hit our base, would we have shifted our COA on the WAR?  I got to see Gen. Schwarzkopf when he visited after the ceasefire.  I asked him this and he would not anwser it (Stupid little E3! ;) , but it got me a photo with him that still sits on my dresser!
