I am  not  a specialist  but  the  how  about  the  succes  rate, accuracy  of SM-3  misisile  .
I  quess  it  has  impact detonator.I mean  to  hit  bullet  with  bullet  must  be  very  hard.Plus  some missile  has  so many decoys,
May be, missile with  pxoimity detonatin  whic spreads  iron  ball more  dependable,  Some ABM  like  that within  200 meter radius  effective againts  war heads.

The Aegis/SM-3 anti-missile system is bar far the most successful system the US has today - I seem to recall its success rate is around 80%, which is why the US Navy (and other Aegis equipped nations) have been modifying their ships/radars at a fairly rapid rate (its also comparatively inexpensive - like $17million per ship for the software upgrades).
