I just registered to praise this article. After reading hundreds of main media news blah blah blah. You actually provide all the facts and numbers in one go! Breathe of fresh air!

You talk about the costs of the Iron Dome batteries and missiles. It is very likely Iron Dome will be put out into the market soon. Many, many countries will beg to buy this battle-tested article. The US and Israel will make LOTS of money selling Iron Domes. Factor that into the cost. These babies are probably free right now.

Iron dome is bad news for, Russia, China, North Korea and Iran. They can make all the warheads and missles they want, they can export them everywhere, but they won't be able to get through,

I agree. The modern 'new' left's swooning over the Palestinians is just downright embarrassing. Clinton had it right about the Palestinians: They never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity. What upsets the leftists the most about Israel is how alike we and they are. It's a projection of their own nihilism and self-loathing, and ambivalence about their own culture. It's every fairy tale about "neo-imperialism" and "cultural oppression" made flesh. It is not truly anti-Semitism: it is something far more banal. Brezhnev's comment about "useful idiots" says it best.

China's arming Hamas?  Why aren't we doing something about that?

Time for the Israelis to go in and "mow the lawn" as they say they have to do periodically with Hamas.

Evan, good point.  Israelis should add an automatic mower.  Have the software calculate the point of origin of the rocket, as well as the point of impact, and instantly fire a retaliatory gps-guided missle at the point of origin.  Thus you have Hamas, effectively, firing rockets at themselves.  This will be a strong deterent, better than possibly bonbing them later, and destroy all their fun in having human shields.

Remember where Hamas puts those launchers. Right next to mosques, hospitals, schools, and other targets they want you to hit and you cannot afford to hit. It wouldn’t be a deterrent, but an invitation.

The Israeli’s have the right approach. Backtrack, then send a UAV to investigate the site, and direct a PGM to the launcher, if appropriate.

When Hamas is firing thousands of rockets into Israel and only killing a handful of people, you know that it is only a matter of time before they change tactics.  People have been talking about "retaliation" by Iran via Hamas and Hezbollah if Israel struck Iran's nuclear facilities.  Well, Israel has thwarted that retaliation, and with increasing recognition for the Syrian Opposition movement, Iran's proxies are going out the window.
