Subject: True or False?

I recently read that Pakistan ceded its claim on Kashmir to China for security gaurantees. Is this true? Does that add another dimension to the Kashmir issue (beside Kashmir independence)?

olive greens    True, Pakistan has ceded Shaksgam Valley to PRC   4/18/2007 8:20:06 PM
It was ceded in 1963 to PRC, and being in PRC protection serves to make the Trans-Karakorum railway link to Pakistan more secure in case of war. As far as India is concerned nothing has really changed: its Indian territory in foreign hands. Though there might be small consolation in the fact that PRC probably isn't willing to let it become another breeding ground for Islamofascists as rest of "Northern Areas" have become. The Buddhists there have better chances of surviving the PAP than Shia Baltis who are slowly being squeezed to death by jihadi muscle fleeing Afghanistan and NWFP.

So any agreements between Pakistan and India over Kashmir are meaningless, right?  Does China plan on recognizing this territory as Indian or are they willing to fight over it as "part of China since the ancient times"?
