The U.S. has noted that no members of the Haqqani Network have been reported killed and warned Pakistan that if some serious damage were not done to the Haqqani Network then this operation in North Waziristan will be seen as a sham, with Pakistan just going after Islamic terrorists who attack Pakistan and not groups like the Haqqani Network that have long been seen as tools of the Pakistani military (and its military branch the ISI) and done much damage in Afghanistan. For decades the Haqqani Network was an Islamic terrorist organization that was tolerated in Pakistan if it confined its operations to North Waziristan and Afghanistan (where it attacked foreign troops and the Afghan government). In 2012
Well DUH! They're Pakistanis. The double cross is their national modus operandi.

I said this last week. This is one final scam before we clear the Theater of Operations. So its good bye Pakistan, thanks for helping us hunt down Ben Laden, we'll never forget that.

The tale goes like this: Pakistan supported Afghanistan operations, and US sold them weapons in return, so 'good' Pakistanis may deal with 'bad' Pakistanis.
So, what happens when last US and NATO soldier leaves Afghanistan. Pakistan is supporting ... nothing. Pakistan has never, ever being effective in dealing with 'bad' Pakistanis. Will US stop selling weapons to Pakistan ? It could 'magically' improve US Indian relations in no time, I suppose. Saudi Arabia is some kind of Pakistani ally, but US Saudi relations are at the lowest point in many years at the moment, anyway.
If that happens Pakistan would turn to China, and Chine would say "No, no" to Pakistani naughtiness in western Chinese provinces.

just a rather trivial question. Strategy Page, and some other sites routinely reporting on this area, refer to "Miramshah" in N. Waziristan/FATA.
But inspection of several mapping sites shows the name of the town as "Miran Shah" in arabic/urdu. Miramshah is so close as to maybe be in error. Not like al-qahiraah, miSri for Cairo, Egypt which would be convention.
Thanks for all the information on this site!
