Subject: Necessity of tying down US forces in the area?

Carl Meyer pushed a article way back when on how the ROK army was 5x size of the North Korean one (counting reservists).

That being said, is it still necessary to keep the 2ID and a bunch of marines at Okinawa nearby?

I certainly would not have guessed that. But even if you only count active duty, I have difficulty seeing how anyone would think the South by itself wouldn't win in a general war with the North by itself. There might be some limited scenario the North can win, but I mean a full-scale invasion with the intent to occupy--by either side. Displacedjim
