I know, and they manage to "fuzz out" their screen name on the thread list.  SP needs to get the damage control teams on the case.

On the other hand, they might be the real reason why PRC's leadership wants to have Taiwan back. They totally lack those assets!

If Taiwan had nukes then there would be no chance of an invasion.

Apparently, your government doesn't want Taiwan to be rid of any chance of an invasion.

That much I do know - both Bush and Clinton have towed the line of "one China" as perscribed by Goldman Sachs and WalMart for their masters in Bejing - while mouthing adherence to the Taiwan Defense Act.  What gets me real mad is the insistance that we are fighting in Iraq to establish a democracy while the administration tells Taipei that they should not hold a free election to see if it wants independence from the mainland.
Some may see this as a smart policy but I see it as appeasement pure and simple.

The line towing goes back to Nixon.  When presidents lie and bend over...

Taiwan, not ROC.  And Taiwan should use germ and chem weapons, no one would be able to tell as everyone in China is chronically sick and the pollution is as bad as any gas cloud.

Here's an even clearer contradiction for ya: Supporting Croatia's and Bosnia's "right" to break away from Yugoslavia, but crushing Serb separatist movements within Croatia and Bosnia.  Wash, rinse, repeat in Kosovo...

MAD (mutually assured destruction) my friend has a way of keeping the hounds at bay.  Much like the North Korea thing - where the PRC exported nuclear technology to Kim or the Pakistan thing - where the PRC exported nuclear technology - the Boys in Beijing would be faced with a poison pill.  Reverse proliferation or the radioactive shoe on the other foot.

Try to take Taiwan - die.  Try to destroy Taiwan - die.  The prospect of losing Beijing and several major cities would make the PLA wary of tangling with Taiwan.  If Taiwan was smart - they would do it the same way we do - target the PLA and CCP leadership - not the cities.  Make it personal.

If you look carefully, it is the US nuclear umbrellla that hangs quietly over the PLA heads if they decide to step off on Taiwan or Japan.  Nukes have a way of evening the odds - as we found out when the Warsaw Pact outnumbered NATO 10 to 1 in the Fulda Gap.
