It is a curiosity that nobody can tell for sure how good Russian warship designs are. Russian Navy have not engaged an enemy at open sea after war with Japan in 1905. The only exception were small vessels used by Arab nations against Israel. With all the tension in south east Pacific, we may find out soon enough.  A lot of Chinese ships are based on Russian designs. I've read somewhere that they carry excessive loads of weapons.
