Subject: Can an aircraft carrier operate in frigid waters?
Clouded Leopard    2/16/2013 1:17:49 PM
If an aircraft carrier were to operate near Antarctica or Arctic waters - for whatever reason - would the presence of ice or the freezing conditions make it too dangerous to launch and land jets off of the carrier?

Look up the term "NATO Strike Fleet" and read about it's war-time mission in the 1950's and 1960's.  All open source.

Not that it matters to you, but the proper question  you should have asked SL is how do you abandon ship and survive the sharks?

There are SHARKS in the Arctic?

H3ll, after reading HMS Ulysses I just figured the hypothermia would get you in 3 minutes or less.
