Subject: 6 CDN soldiers KIA in Afghanistan mine attack
Griffin    4/10/2007 10:41:14 PM
6 Canadian soldiers were killed in Afghanistan on Easter Sunday while peforming a security patrol about 75 km west of Kandahar City. They were riding in their LAVIII when it ran over a large pressure plate controlled mine that caused the a devasting explosion. 1 soldier who was also in the rear compartment was seriously injured and evacuated to Germany. The crew members of the LAV escaped the lethal nature of the attack, but obviously have to deal with the aftermath; two of whom are described as also having 'minor' wounds.

5 of the soldiers are from the 2nd Bn. Royal Canadian Regiment located at CFB Gagetown, NB, while the 6th fatality was a reservist from the Princess Louise Fusiliers out of Halifax, NS.

May they rest in peace.

We lost another 2 guys right after the Easter Sunday losses.  This time it was members from the Royal Canadian Dragoons when their Coyote hit another IED.
