Let's swap! Care to guess what Mexico would look like in fifty years, or the United States for that matter? It'll be awhile before you are a majority. Closing the borders has a bit more to do with securing our nation than simply keeping you away. Come to America, legally. Make the effort to be a good citizen of our nation. You are welcome to do so. Don't cross our borders illegally. No nation on earth will accept that condition-including Mexico If you wish to remain Mexican, but want to work in our nation, then do so as a documented guest-worker. Return to your nation at the termination of this privilege, and reapply again-should you desire. Threaten our sovereignty, as your comments clearly do, and you'll quickly find that we are not American Indians to be placed on a reservation, and your presence will be very unwelcome.

"wy wait a year when you can get here in week." Because 1.) It displays how little concern you have for adhering to any and all the laws of our nation; 2.) It makes you a criminal immediately. Even should you survive the journey, you live a shadow existance in most of our nation, and have none of the protections afforded to our Mexican-American citizens. Our nation is tiring of exactly those types of abuses. We welcome immigrants who wish to build lives as citizens of our great nation. We won't continue much longer tolerating the illegal entry of your citizens. Why don't you apply more of your considerable energies to building your own great nation. Mexico has more than it's share of advantages. It only lacks a sense of its possible greatness-then perhaps you'd stay. Too bad. The risks are yours, and they will become harder. Vaya con dios, mi compadre.

Only someone like Hans Kelsen could argue that the law should be followed because it IS the law. Law has always been the way to keep the status quo. Mexican migrants don?t care about your status quo, since they are more concerned about surviving and eating (in Mexico & USA).

"Law has always been the way to keep the status quo. Mexican migrants don?t care about your status quo" Perhaps in Israel, but then you feel strongly also about Palestinians trying to enter your nation to sell goods and services. Why? Security? Why shouldn't our nation have the moral obligation to its citizens to defend the integrity of our borders? Don't like the law. Our system offers recourse, though not by breaking that law. All are welcome to immigrate, but otherwise you remain illegal. Merkavabestinworld, if Israeli, take care of your own borders. Should we decide to defend ours as aggressively as Israel, I doubt LA RAZA will be surviving or eating much in America. May it come to that. Unless he should decide to emigrate legally.

I know. It's bad in Ciudad Juarez, near Texas, and many other places. Underneath, though, is an incredible country waiting to happen. Stay and fight for your brothers and sisters against the criminals and corrupt crony politicians. If you would risk your life to enter the U.S.A. illegally, why not risk it for Mexico?

La Raza I don't think anyone is saying get all Mexicans/Hispanic's/Latino's etc out of the US. I know many hard working individuals from (Primarily Mexico) Latin Countries. However, with that said, you do prove a point I tried to make and that there are nut bags out there that think they can just over run the Southern US and try to claim the land. Though it is not Originally Mexican's...nor is it Originally US....so Mexico has 0 claim on it. And the liklihood of that ever happening is very little. You need to chill...no one's asking to get rid of a people that are a benefit to the US economy, but the days of running across the border getting caught and shipped back home, only to try the next day is coming to a close. You abuse the situation and it's going to turn out bad...the freedom's you have now will be gone. I know people from Europe that are here illegally by way of Canada, but guess what no one's saying close off their border...why? B/c we're racist...no that's not why...it's b/c there arent a billion of em abusing it daily.....get the difference?

Maybe it is why that the US reject Kyoto treaty, so that climate change due to green house effect will destroy Northern Europe and Russia, hence create massive European immigration flood into the US.

"Maybe it is why that the US reject Kyoto treaty, so that climate change due to green house effect will destroy Northern Europe and Russia, hence create massive European immigration flood into the US." That's quite a conspiracy theory. Every American on this board knows my position on the environment yet I've never voiced support for the Kyoto Treaty. Now that Canada is getting it's oil and gas industry into full steam it is starting to wish it hadn't either. As for La Raza, too many undocumented, illegal immigrants creates instability because we don't have enough jobs for them and the jobs that most illegals get puts them into a situation of slavery. Yes, slavery. There are more and more jobless Mexicans in places where there is not a big agricultural industry to absorb them (mostly in the northeast). And there aren't enough wealthy people seeking housemaids in the northeast to provide meaningful unemployment (northeastern US mentality is a bit more down to earth than California and the western states.

First of all LA RAZA does not repersant all Mexicans and thier views. there is a lemit that the US has for visa's and Greencards etc. Thier for not evreyone can come here legally. Secand of all a long time ago a group of men in Philidelphia PA wanted people from across the world to come here for a better life. After that they started the American Revolution. Third of All evry emigration group in history has been treated this way by the old emigration groups in the US. We, as in me since I am a Mexican, Just don't suck it up and get pushed around since we come from a nation that too was born un the ideals of Freedom Mexicans don't whant to invade we want to inriche American culture so the world can't talk trash about the lack of culture in the US. We , as in Latinos, have givven so much already. Like pinatas, and the honorble atimpt in making a taco fast food resturant like Taco Bell, thought they failed since they realy are not Latin style tacos. Music, Art, More Family values ect. we have so much to offer in exchange for jobs to better the economy of the US and other American Nations.

I have to admit the family values of hispanics, latinos, mexican or whatever... is a bit far more stronger than your traditional american family. Heck, i haven't a problem with anyone south of the border coming here to settle, legally. Not only that, but i'm a big fan of traditional mexican food. So much so, that by the time i reached my twenties my stomach already required a massive intervention by mylanta and related products. Ohhhh... for the stomach of my youth! Not only that, but the latino influence has been felt in this nation ever since the mid 1800's. To be honest, i admired the tejano singer Selena and i mourned her death, she was a very beautiful woman. I do agree latinos have given a shot into the arm of american culture. Culturally, this is nothing new... but, something that's been remade and rediscovered by the general population! Part of the american cultural phenomenon, is it's abilty to rejuvenate itself from a wide variety of cultures to which it can draw upon. Not only that, but the intelligence too tap into it as well. The problem is roughly, from what it appears, is from both angles....IMHO. Half our politicans won't enforce our own laws, and those coming from south of the border crossing into U.S. territory illegaly are doing themseleves and all of us more harm than good in the long run. That's not to say, in the eyes of those that came here legally are developing a rapidly growing sense of resentment to those who've come here illegaly and are flouting the U.S. legal system. No need to mention us who were born here and trace our roots back into the 1700's and beyond. Simply put, many of us are getting fed up at the twenty year long MAJOR lawbreaking! Also quite simply, illegals are damaging the very economic and social system that is trying to help those latinos and their relatives who have come here legally, and more often than one may think, from the very same afflicted regions as where illegals hail from. We can blame it on big business or no one here wanting to do the work that they do, or crappily run south american countries who still haven't mastered or understand how to run and manage an economy. The fact of reclaiming lost territory is a dead issue as far as i'm concerned. There was and is a treaty that ended the conflict more than 150 years ago, with the american government of that time paying... what with more than 150 years of inlfation to account for, which amounts to several billion dollars in today's money. Back then 15-20$ million was alot of money to get the american government to pay. Still, if anyone wants to get technical about it , the territory that was lost wasn't even theirs in the first place, period! BTW... the aztecs had no claim that approached anywhere near the rio grande border. I'm just saying... this is a non-issue, my ears are closed to this. But, they are open to almost everything else. For those here who settled legally and are on the path of acquiring american citizenship, a few of the ties that bind them with the rest of us is alot more stronger than what it at first appears. One of those ties that bind is the fact that quite a few latino families have given their sons or daughters to our country in it's current conflict with radical terrorists and wahabi supporting government's throughout the middle eastern region; Some regrettably... have paid with their lives. I recognize and salute those latinos and their families sacrafice for this country, no better love can be expressed. Also, in the form of religon... although primarily catholics, they are christians none-the-less, a branch of christianity not too unfamiliar with the american population at large! Also, the majority believe in our system of government and are law abiding citizens looking to improve their lot in life like others who've come here throughout this country's existence. As far as being persecuted, that is the lot of the new immigrant, no matter the nationality where ever one settles in the world. So with that all said from the top of my mind, and trying too be as fair as i possibly can be. The political issue here is... What good is a law on the books if no-one is going to enforce it, much less acknowlege it's existence! From my perspective, it's not race that is an issue. It is one part legal, one part economic, one part social and a whole lot to do with respecting a neighbor's border. Today's america is nothing like the america of the 1840's or the mexican revolutionary period, for that matter. We've matured alot since then. Just like today's mexico is nothing like the mexico of the same time period, alot of maturity from both sides of the border. But, no matter how much one matures there will always be issues that need to be addressed and settled, instead of having a constant long drawn out problem that is not good for either country. Times have changed, and so has many an american attitude in regards to many a thing.

I belive that if the law is just it should be fallowed and in this case Boreder should be enforced. In my opinion a joint Binational security force is needed than a wall. Some fences and officers that can crisscros the border will be more than enough,
