I imagine Mexico's biggest threats are internal, 1. being the Chiappas (how is that going by the way?) and 2. Drug and pure violence gangs originating from central america, with various means of support. If Mexico was to have an external enemy, I'd bet that it would be a regional power monger from south america. Somebody like Chavez but not necessarily him, or Brazil if they really get their stuff together and try to carve out a sphere. Perhaps a really, really rich and powerful drug lord. One who can finance a navy.

In Chiappas, things have comed down a little and Mexico is proberly the only nation to negotiate with an peasant upriseing. They may come in handey if agianst curroption, if you know what I mean. DrugLords are to Mexico as Terrorists are to the US Brazil will need to have some major change in politics to go against Mexico. Chavez has not pleased the FreeWorld nor Mexico. He must be delt with. Mohahahah!!!

"Drug Lords are to Mexico as Terrorists are to the US" Not really, it is more like corruption! Congressmen and police are getting money, "protections" and favors form Drug Lords and gangs. Corruption is to Mexico and Terrorists are to US? "Chavez has not pleased the FreeWorld nor Mexico. He must be delt with. Mohahahah!!!" He will eventually become a experiment. He needs to be humiliated, in something like a live debate or a interview .

While Fox and Mexican politicians seem to support the migration of Mexicans, legal or otherwise, into the US, what kind of damage does this do to Mexico's long term prospects for modernization? You will need a young work force, and the kids of these immigrants stay in the US, only making trips to Mexico to visit the grandparents.

The biggest threat to Mexico is thousands of angry armed American citizens who are pissed off about Mexico refusing to stop the illegal immigrants and drugs and their refusal to secure their side of the border and over the 216 blatant violations of international borders by the Mexican Army in the past few years (when they go 2 or more miles inside the US).

Chris, this post is not about the border and its only a hundred domb rednecks who are mad. "Mexico refusing to stop the illegal immigrants and" In the US it is Illegal to stop anyone from leaving the country unless they are being chased or prosecuted by the law, Mexico and every other democracy in the world have that same law. sorry but unless you have anything un topic and reasonable to say that does not include any redneck and Yankie redneck wannabe paranoid ideology on how the world should work, then say it and if you don't, free this website of such garbage. thesecolorsdontrum, No its more of a Get a gun and pair of boots and act like soldiers kind of thing. No APC's No helo's no real guns like G3's and no orginazation what so ever. be serious.

link as you can see, from the link, their is more than enough youth to go around, and you aslo bring up a good point. In the long run the Mexican Goverment will need to find a LEGAL way to keep citizens in the country and have the means to support them. Right now everything looks like a vicious cycle.

link Cuba is playing with fire. Mexico can easly get some jets,More ships, and has enough ammo and SF troops to support a rebel force. Know what I'm saying? Senerio, Cuba loses all relations with Mexico. Mexico Declares war. They buy New Ships and New jets and wihtin 5 months they bomb Cuba back to Castro's early years. Mexico supports a Big rebelion, and maybe sends in the marines. After two months of fighting Castro ehtier kills himself or gets aressted or assassinated. After Bush convinces the American public to inervine, the Calvary shows up with a Career, a few M1A3's and lots of Apaches to flush out the remaining Cuban troops.

1} I have nothing against the Mexican People!!! 2} I have nothing against a Mexican Worker "As long as he has to play by the same rules as any US Worker!!!" not "Stealing our jobs by working 12 to 14 hour days for 50 dollars a day!!!" and "Paying no US Taxes!!!" 3} I would not call the Mexican People or Government Corrupt!!!. Because "The US is also when it comes to both drug usage and corruption caused by it!!!" 4} I do however as an American "Have a problem with anyone who does not legally belong here from any nation anywhere!!!" and "Agree with displacedjim from a previous post about shooting them!!!" only "I would not shoot them in the head, but use a firing squad!!!" tigertony

"tigertony: I do however as an American "Have a problem with anyone who does not legally belong here from any nation anywhere!!!" and "Agree with displacedjim from a previous post about shooting them!!!" only "I would not shoot them in the head, but use a firing squad!!!" tigertony" Wow. I've lived my whole life in the Southwest, spent a bunch of time in Mexico, loved the place and its people but hated its government. I've said many times I'd love to live in Mexico if we could lose the government. I've worked construction (building contractor) for decades here and the Mexican workers are indispensable. If the USA had not closed the border long ago, these people would simply cross amicably and productively with many fewer problems; when problems appeared both the USA and Mexico could have worked together to solve them. Instead--the US created a situation which led to our current problem. It will, honestly, take the better part of a century to fix this mess. To casually murder people who look for work when governments act stupid is immoral. I hope your remarks were hyperbole!

Mexico will have to compete with the interests of the cuban community in florida once Castro dies, I don't see a war happening there. Maybe if Chavez and Castro get together and try to cause some trouble... that would give the US a great excuse to take out that PLA listening station and re-educate that PLA crew. So Mexico is looking forward to a little power projection? Interesting.

1} Do you live in PA??? 2} Illegal Mexican workers are indispensable in construction???. WOW,i guess you think these Contractors using this illegal labor "Should rake in all those illegally made profits"???. Profits made by exploiting them and lowering the wages of real American construction workers like myself "Who refuses to use them and will soon be forced too or fold up my tent!!! 3} You call National Security "Casual Murder???"???. Well now thats what these illegal workers are doing to the American Wage "Casually Murdering them!!!" 4} And in my opinion i dont think opening our border to them "Would stop them from still entering our workforce illegally!!!". Why would they when they pay no taxes, get medical treatment at the expense of US Taxpayers, and sneak back across anytime we catch them and send them back??? 5} And i dont blame them "However i do blame our own Contractors and Government for using them and allowing this!!!" Have A Nice Day!!! tigertony
