The 'War on Drugs' is the biggest racket going.  Unless demand is addressed there will be an unending line of desperate people willing to risk all to get a slice of that multi-multi-billion dollar pie

 

Seriously, when did simply prohibiting a vice ever work?

 

That said if the US and MExico are serious about the cartels, we'll sick the CIA on them and hunt them down with drone strikes like the taliban and al queda leadership.  Summary-fucking execution, carpet-bombing their villas, oh and sorry about the civilian casualties, as if there aren't any on the other side.

 

Clearly there are entrenched interests getting rich from both sides - from the cartels and from the military-industrial complex.
