Millionaires to Obama: Tax us

By Rachel Rose Hartman

Ben Cohenhttp://mit.zenfs.com/100/2010/11/Cohen.jpg" width="270" height="360" />Anti-tax activists everywhere have been loudly arguing for an extension of George W. Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans in the United States.  Now a group of millionaires is arguing the opposite.

More than 40 of the nation's millionaires have joined Patriotic Millionaires for Fiscal Strength to ask President Obama to discontinue the tax breaks established for them during the Quote    Reply

Why is it always trial lawyers?

I think it is hypocricy at highest form, just like the Obamacare thing, which already led to 111 waivers to corporations including McDonald, WalMart etc.

Higher tax for millionaires equals higher rate of tax evasion equals higher need for tax lawyers equals higher number of IRS lawsuits equals higher income for trial lawyers.

In the meantime, we the little people will be the loooooooosers because all the money are spent in legal process and litigation.

Nonetheless,  I think the Republicans should compromise on Bush tax cut. If they can't save the rich people, at least they should save the poor people. Then they can say that they have done their best and wait until tax hike on the rich totally compensated the very few positive effect of QE2. Besides, I don't want to pay around 30% more tax for the benefit that I am not eligible of.

If you wish to donate your money to the United States government you can do so by writing a check to the United States Treasury.   This ability to give the USG money above and beyond what you "owe" predates the IRS and the 16th amendment.

If these people were honest, to say nothing of patriotic, they would give their own money to the government beyond what they actually owed rather than lobbying for other people to be forced to give as much as these people claim they want to be taxed.

Such "patriotic" people tend to be quite generous with money that is not theirs to spend why they fail to support their own words with actions.

Shack!  Exactly my reaction, but stated better than I would have done.
