Subject: Obama 2012 Campaign Strategy
YelliChink    8/22/2011 11:49:27 AM
It's about time to think about it, since President Obama already started his 2012 campaign for quite a few months.

Romney will be the next US president, that is pretty much inevitable now, there's no precedent for someone with Obama's approval record reversing that trend in such a short space of time - there's system shocks to the economy due this year coming from all corners of the world - if there isn't some form of miraculous economic turn around then it's curtains for his administration.

Donald Trump is an irrelevant attention seeking buffoon.

I'm not all that crazy about Romney, but if/when Romney becomes the nominee I will become his biggest cheerleader.  Still, do not understimate the power, corruption, and influence of the Liberal media.  The media has been fairly critical of Obama, but as the election nears they will stay true to their ideology and will once again be in the tank for Obama.  I fully expect that come late summer the economy will experience a "miraculous" turn around, or at the very least it will be showing "strong and promising signs of recovery."  If that doesn't convince voters, I would expect the Obama Administration (with the help of his media patsies) do whatever they can to take the economy off the table as a topic of discussion.  This may sound ludicrous, but Obama was able to do something similar in '08.  Every time McCain would try to focus on something that would have hurt Obama, Obama would declare it "off limits", and the media would dutifully comply.  It was maddening then, and I fully expect it to happen again.

It's a long time until the election. A lot can happen in the mean time. There could be an economic crisis. We could be at war. The USDOJ or the courts might try to influence the competition under color of law.

Then Donald Trump might - who can tell - want to run as a spoiler although I suspect that he has already achieved his original purpose. He talks as though he wants to be the 1960s Richard J. Daley of the GOP (Daley was the Democrats' presidential "king maker" or gatekeeper of the presidential nomination. I remember that someone remarked of Nikita Kruschev that if he had been born in the US, he would be mayor of Chicago).

Ron Paul could decide to run as an independent although someone has contended he won't in order to protect the future prospects of his son (Senator from Kentucky).

The courts might decide the election if it is contested as in 2000.

There will probably be an October 2012 surprise.

Well Gingrich just kicked Romney square in the balls with his win in South Carolina, and that can be put down to the debates more than anything, especially if that trend continues as Florida approaches.

If Sanatorium drops out then he'll most-likely endorse Gingrich than Romney - if that happens Romney picks up perhaps 8-10 percent.

I must confess I didn't see this coming at all, having watched the debates, Gingrich really has outshone the rivals, combative, encyclopaedic knowledge of the process and the ability to draw Regan era nostalgia.

The big question is going to be whether he can keep pressure on Romney and his non-disclosure of tax returns, I suspect that there is a fair amount of legal but "ethically questionable" book-keeping, trust-funds and so on perhaps registered offshore that would play very badly - OTOH Romney has an enormous funding advantage going fowards.

Romney is still the clear favourite but at least this will remain interesting for a while yet...

I am absolutely amazed at Romney's handling of his tax returns. Was he suprised after  the 99% vs 1% fandango that they would be an issue? Well, Kerry's released his 2004 returns that showed a tax rate of 12% on an income of $5.1 million. He didn't even earn the money, he married it. Kerry was given a pass by the media. Wouldn't love to have seen his pre-nup? Didn't Romney realize that Kerry as a Democrat the MSM would give him a pass where he as a Republican would be crucified?  If Romney can be so oblivious to the consequences of his tap dancing on his taxes, how will he function with problems he would face as President that he may not want to deal with but must. Also we have Gingrich's ethics and leadership problems in Congress that haven't been vetted yet. Better everything be aired now and dealt with because you can be sure the Dems and the MSM will be all over everything.

Donald Trump is an irrelevant attention seeking buffoon.

There's supposed to be stimulus projects coming online this year.  There's also voter fraud and the fact that the Republican base can always take their ball and go home to pout if Romney doesn't play up the social conservative angle.  I think a key might be gas prices.  If they're as high as some predictions Romney can slam Obama on the pipeline and drilling issues.  If they're low the media's lies about the economy getting better might give it to Obama.  Don't fool yourself, the Left Wing knows this is their last best chance.  You're right about the overseas stuff.  If Iran does something to raise gas prices over the projections the Republicans could take the Senate.

CJH    Is TRump Obama's 2012 Ace in the Hole?   2/10/2012 11:44:03 PM
It was a truism in the sixties that within anti-war or counter culture activist groups if there was a person within a group who consistently advocated violence, that person was likely a government undercover agent infiltrator (Or agent provocateur).

IIRC, Donald Trump has referred to Obama as an idiot among other things.

Donald Trump has endorsed Mitt Romney.

I agree with Rush and those who believe that Romney is the weakest general election candidate in the field (Despite appearances, perhaps, to the contrary). While Romney maybe exceptionally able within his field of specialization, he would be a lackluster and uninspiring leader. If the voters see this in him, Obama would beat him.

Obama has demonstrated a predisposition towards finding expedients to get elected such as getting opponents removed from ballots. That is, he finds ways around the election process thus beating the system.

So, if one regards Trumps actions only and ignores Trumps words, one may be tempted to imagine that Donald Trump and Obama are working together here. That is, Trump, either by virtue of endorsing Romney or by threatening to run as an independent if someone else (particularly Ron Paul but also a legitimate conservative candidate) is the nominee, may be Obama's guarantee of success.

Trump may be how Obama beats the system this time.

Trump may be key to Obama's 2012 campaign strategy.

Pretty simple, given what we've seen from GOP primaries, who ever gets the nomination will shoot themselves in the mouth enough to give Obama another. 4 years.
