A recent report on DefenseNews.com provided some interesting details of the BAE's Naval Typhoon proposal to an Indian Navy Request For Information:

Of particular interest is that this is not a CATOBAR design, but STOBAR, as is the SAAB/BAE Sea Gripen proposal.
This has started me thinking about potential markets, for while the Indian Navy's RFI includes the Super Hornet and Rafale M as well as the MiG-29K, there are some potential Naval users out there, specifically the Italian and Spanish Navies who are looking at the F-35B potentially getting canceled in two years (or costing a boatload more than they expected).
Specific to both Spain and Italy, who already operate the Typhoon, converting their STOVL carriers to STOBAR configuration for Naval Typhoons be an attractive option? |
