The Air Force procurement is so screwed up at the moment that I would be reluctant to bring them on-board until they have placed some of their current time consuming projects behind them. The F-35 being the most prominent one.

Another way to work around the Chinese anti-shipping missile threat, will be to fly F-35Bs into Taiwan.

Which F-35's?  The ones that currently don't exist or the future ones that won't exist?

The MIC is dead.  Spending trillions on defence against nonexistent enemies is destroying America.

Nationalize Lockheed.  That is the only way to get the F-35 into production.
No need for Fleet carriers.  Auction them off.  If India would pay 5 billion for that POS Russian jeep carrier how much would they pay for a Nimitz with time left on the clock?  America doesn't need CV's for defence.  Carriers make good targets.  Their day is done.  The Carrier Admirals are even worse then the Battleship Admirals were.
By 2030, the US Defence budget will be under 300 million per year.  That and geography will defend America.  The Trillions being spent today go to protect the 'worlds commons' .  An idea that history shows is bogus.  Fook the 3rd world.  Let them deal with the Putin's of history in their own way.  They don't want American help.  So don't help them.
Current defence policy makes a few thousand Americans wealthy at the expense of 300 plus million Americans.  That will stop.

It’s generally [assumed] that robotic combat aircraft are the future, even though many of the aviation commanders (all of them pilots) wish it were otherwise. Whoever gets there first (a UCAV that really works) will force everyone else to catch up, or end up the loser in their next war with someone equipped with UCAVs. China may have just copied pictures of the X-47B, or done so with the help of data obtained by their decade long Internet espionage operation. Whatever the case, the Li Jian is not far behind the X-47B.

Machines still have decision limits... severe ones

Welcome back!

Right now the cruise missiles and guided missiles are one way weapons or robotic-aircrafts which ever of the two names you choose to call them. They cannot return or land so when you fire them and need to abort the mission your only choice is to destroy them. A drone would change that and serve as a carrier of other weapons. So it has fantastic possibilities if you can work out the details of controlling it and keeping it from being jammed. Since strike missions are the predominant missions carried out by all aircrafts this threatens the pilots lifestyle. Fighter missions would be more complicated but the possibilities are there.

One comment about the F-35B and Taiwan deserve attention. Yes, for any front line state this aircraft would be very useful. It could be sheltered, operate from short strips and would create havoc on a potential landing attempt. But because of its stealth any of the F-35 would be a preferred platform for a strike against missile launchers or nuclear facilities such as Taiwan/China, Israel/Iran, South Korea / North Korea, etc. This is the role where it would probably excel at beyond what the current F-16 and F-15E are capable of doing.

Forget any discussions, HR.

You generally write personal insults and spout technical ignorance of the worst kind.

I was DUMB ENOUGH to crawl down to that level.

Henceforth I will comment where you are wrong technically, tell you that you are wrong  and leave it strictly at that.

Yes, I know that according to you I am always wrong. It is a relief to know that some things never go out of fashion.
