Over a hundred armed locals, using motorboats, boarded two oil rigs in the southeast. and took hostage 165 workers (including seven Americans and 13 other foreigners.) The locals demanded jobs with the local oil companies. Disputes over who is to get jobs frequently leads to this kind of violence.
