The government revealed that fifty soldiers wounded in Liberian and Sierra Leone peacekeeping operations are receiving medical care in Egypt. In the northeast, an eighth state (Borno) has announced it will introduce Sharia (Islamic) law. Three other northern states (Bauchi, Gombe and Kebbi) are considering such a move.
