Lock 'N Load Named Recipient of International Gamers Award
Lock 'N Load has been named as the recipient of the
2004
International Gamers Award in the Historical Simulation category. The
International Gamers Awards was created to recognize outstanding games
and
game designers, and to help promote the board game industry throughout
the
world.
"This is an exciting time for people who enjoy board games," said IGA
Chairman Greg J. Schloesser. "Board gaming is becoming more and more
popular with families, and the public has more exciting, challenging
and
high-quality games available to it now than ever before."
To be eligible for the 2004 International Gamers Awards in the
Historical
Simulations category, a game had to be released during the 2003
calendar
year. The winners were announced on June 6, 2004.
Lock 'N Load is from new game designer Mark H. Walker and is released
by
Shrapnel Games. The first game in the series, Forgotten Heroes:
Vietnam,
focuses on the pre-1970 conflict, with scenarios taking place in the
mid to
late '60s. The game is easy to learn, but presents players with the
myriad
of tough choices and tactical decisions facing the platoon leader in
the
jungles of Vietnam. The result is a fast-paced, tension-filled game
that is
never short on excitement.
