Poland has selected the Finnish 8x8 Armored Modular Vehicle as its new armored personnel carrier, ordering 690 vehicles for delivery over ten years. These will be built in Poland by WZM. The Finnish vehicle was selected because it was cheapest and most cost effective. The package includes 313 infantry fighting vehicles with Hitfist turrets with 30/40mm cannons, 87 vehicles with remotely-operated 12.7mm machineguns, 118 command vehicles, 48 engineer vehicles, 46 ambulances, 46 recovery vehicles, and 32 reconnaissance vehicles (which will be a smaller 6x6 design). --Stephen V Cole
