Britain has given Vickers Defense Systems and Marconi contracts to "define" the new Terrier Combat Engineer Tractor that will replace the current CET (which entered service in 1981). The British will eventually want 100 vehicles for about $450 million. The British Army uses its CETs to prepare and destroy barriers, tow the trailer-mounted Python mine-clearing system, and carry rolled-up trackway and facines.--Stephen V Cole
