The British Defense Ministry will hold a contest to buy 10,000 new trucks for the military, a program likely to cost $3 billion. The in-service date of the long-delayed program has slipped to 2005. The program will probably cover two or three chassis types, the smallest six tons and the largest 15 tons. Specialized versions (fuel, recovery, weapons) will be developed.--Stephen V Cole
