The Navy has asked for bids on a new faster rocket engine for the HARM anti-radiation missile. This will use the Variable Flow Ducted Rocket (which was picked over a liquid-fueled design). The Navy wants a missile with a range of 120 nautical miles. The Navy wants to keep the motor within the 10 inch diameter of the current HARM, but will consider a larger size if improved performance can be delivered. The Navy wants 1,350 of the new higher-speed missiles.--Stephen V Cole
