The Air Force will fit all new aircraft (and refit some old ones) with new radios called ROBE (Roll On Beyond-visual-range Enhancement). If all aircraft have this new kind of radio, targeting data will be able to go directly from sensor platforms to attack aircraft without being relayed and translated through AWACS or other airborne command posts. --Stephen V Cole
