Morale: Military Pilots Going Green

Archives

September18, 2008:  Over the last few decades, air forces around the world have been switching to green flight suits. Since World War II, pilots have worn brown, black, gray, blue, khaki, and a few other color flight suits. Green, however, is seen as a "tactical" (as in ground combat) color, and more appropriate for military pilots. There's also the "escape and evasion" (in case you have to bail out over enemy territory.) Green comes in handy if there is vegetation down there. The Indian Air Force is the latest major organization to convert, replacing their 40 year tradition of blue flight suits.
