Lieutenant Colonel Martha McSally, the highest-ranking Air Force fighter pilot, is suing the Pentagon to end the rules imposed on American military women in Saudi Arabia. When they go off post, they must wear a long Saudi-style dress and ride in the back seat. The Pentagon says that this protects the women (and men with them) from harassment, and avoids inflaming local Saudi puritans, but the law suit says this amounts to forcing American women to adopt Islamic standards.--Stephen V Cole
