With cost overruns and other financial problems, NASA is considering a radical plan to sell or lease the Space Shuttle fleet to the United Space Alliance (a joint venture of Boeing and Lockheed Martin), which would then operate it for a profit. NASA would then buy shuttle services for space station support missions. The plan has a long way to go and many regard the entire idea as far fetched.--Stephen V Cole
