China's Shenzhou-III (an unmanned test of a manned capsule) separated into two parts on 31 March, one of which landed in Inner Mongolia. The Chinese manned spacecraft design uses two parts. The second section provides more work space in orbit but is not built to survive re-entry.--Stephen V Cole
