The Chinese Air Force is closely studying the US operations in Serbia and Iraq, and is convinced that airpower will be the main fighting force in future local conflicts. Officially, the Chinese Air Force claims the right to fly over Taiwan at will (since it is, in Beijing's view, Chinese territory), but this is clearly just a policy statement.--Stephen V Cole
