China has dropped it's hostile stance towards Taiwan in the media and is calling for greater cooperation and more diplomatic contacts. This latest change is a result of the declining strength of the Chinese nationalists in Taiwanese politics. The nationalists lose a civil war to the communists after World War II and have long insisted they were the true government of China.
