China announced that it is arming it's Russian Su-27 and Su-30 warplanes with Russian AA-12 air-to-air missiles. The AA-12 is roughly similar to the US AMRAAM missile, which proved it's capability over Iraq during the Gulf War. The AA-12 has not yet been used in combat but is believed to be formidable.
